Supermodel In the Making

I finally talked my Mom and Dad into letting try out modeling. They weren't so hot on the idea because they just see the negatives about the industry on TV shows like America's Next Top Model and Project Runway. They said they are afraid that I would grow up too soon but I assured them that the morals and values they have instilled in me would keep me from heading down the wrong path.

Today was my first photo shoot. All I had today were carrot sticks, breast milk and cigarettes. I put on my fanciest dress and had Mom blow out my hair.

Here is a good picture of my (stage) Mom directing my poses. I am trying to be patient with her but I think my faces says it all. She was being so annoying - "Smile bigger. Tilt your head a little this way. Now suck in your belly."

Sorry I can't show you the rest of the photos. They are going in my book. Keep a look out on the new stands - maybe you'll see me on the cover of Baby Vogue. And if it doesn't work out, I am hoping to find work as a Plus Size Baby Model.

It's All About The Upgrade

My flight home was the bomb. Dad upgraded us to First Class so we could be more comfortable for the long flight home. The seats reclined and there was lots of room the move around. Mom could feed me without having to sit sideways and I could really relax and catch up on some zzzz's. We watched two
movies and had a great meal. The time flew by (no pun intended).

Poor Dad doesn't realize that once you fly first you can't go back. He has no idea how much this is gonna cost him.

Newest Member of Engine 306

Today is the day I have not been looking forward to. We are saying goodbye (for now) to our family and friends and heading home to California. I begged Mom and Dad to take me to visit Uncle Tommy at the fire station where he works for a photo-op. It was awesome - I got to check out the truck and the house and meet all those cute firefighters! I love a man in uniform.

Newest Member of the Club

Last night I participated in a game called Pass the Baby. As you can see, I handled it quite well and apparently passed the test because I was officially inducted in the Come By Me Club. In case you don't know, the Come By Me Club is a secret society of women, my Grandma's friends, which was founded in the mid-1980's to give these hard working mom's a chance to get together, have some fun and air their grievances. Not all members of the Come By Me Club were present at last night's meeting but the most important members were there, hereby making their vote to accept me into the club valid and non-negotiable. However, topics of discussion during club meetings are strictly adult only so it is a good thing I am an out-of-town member, as I will not be welcome at meetings once I can comprehend discussions and until the time that I turn 25.

Here I am with my favorite club member...

I'm In a New York State of Mind

I have been on a whirlwind the last few days. Since we landed we really haven't stopped having fun. Even though I am so delighted by everything going on around me, Mom keeps putting me down for my naps. I am having a hard time falling asleep and settling down and have been staying up way past my bedtime! I know Mom feels a little bad for me, worried that I am not getting my rest and fussing a little more than usual, but it is worth it! I love getting all this attention and exploring the East Coast.

On Monday morning me, my Mom and Dad went to Connecticut to visit with Grandma Mimi, Auntie Ann and Uncle Pete. AA and UP, as they are affectionately called, have a great house - I slept so well there! It is cozy and luxurious and I can't wait to go back and visit again. We had some friends stop by to see me while I was there - Amanda Dawson and her kids Carolina and Owen, Judy Dunn and Sue and Jim.

And it isn't a visit to AA and UP's without a morning cup of joe from Dunkin Donuts. I told UP that I didn't want a large, but that's what he got and of course I drank the whole thing. Come on, that coffee cup is bigger than I am. I did feel good and get a lot done that day. Why do I keep jonesin' for another one?

On Wednesday we went to visit my Mom's cousin Susan and her three daughters, Ava, Olivia and Madeline, otherwise known as the triplets. They are so fun and were so into me! They wanted to rock me in the car seat, change my diaper, kiss me, hold me and play with me. Basically, I was like a real life baby doll. I didn't mind, it was so fun! I can't wait to play with them some more when I come back to visit.

After all the fun, I had to re-focus and do a little work. I stopped by Dad's office to help him and his colleague, Linda Kim get some clarity on time lines and out-of-pockets for the new Ad Campaign. I hope they are prepared because I charge consultant fees.

After all that hard work, it was time to kick back and relax....

I was told that as long as I am in New York City, I have to have a piece of pizza. We met up with Mom and Dad's good friends Dave and Lisa Fishetti at Patsy's on 35th and 3rd for a pie and some penne alla vodka. I can't compare it to San Francisco pizza because my mother refuses to eat it, but I can say it was delicious! Dave and Lisa are having a baby in July - I am not sure what they are having, but I do hope for another boy ;-)

And no trip to NYC is complete without Tasti D Lite!

I know we only saw a few friends and just scratched the surface, but Mom promises we'll be back soon! I can't wait. I loved all of the noise and everything there is to look at. And the accents! So it isn't just my Grandpa and Grandma who sound like that! They are beau-ti-ful! I think I am a NYC girl at heart.

A Special Day

In the midst of all the visitors and fun, something really special happened. I was a little confused and overwhelmed by it all but Mom explained that I made my first sacrament. I still don't exactly know what that means, so I will just tell you all about the day.

On Sunday morning my Grandad, Mimi, Aunt Casey and Uncle Jenny came over. Everyone was all dressed up and Mom was running around like a lunatic (I know, nothing unusual there) organizing my clothes, getting flowers, cake and getting dressed up.

The next thing I know I am wearing this amazing gown made of raw silk, which I discovered tastes fabulous. It had two layers, is about 3 feet long and has little flowers embroidered on it. I was told that the gown is 97 years old and was worn by my Grandpa's mother, my Mom, my Godfather Tommy and my Cousin Madeline (named after the gown's original owner, Grandma Madeline) on their Christening Day. Wow! Not only am I getting a chance to develop a taste for luxury but I am also considering a hobby in antiques. I wore my Grandma's cross that was given to her by her Aunt Sally for her Communion (another sacrament as I understand it) and a cross from my favorite store, Tiffany, given to me by my Godmother Zi Zi Lisa.

The ceremony took place a the church my Grandma and Grandpa belong to in Little Neck, NY called Saint Anastasia's. This is where my Mom, Godmother and Godfather went to school for 9 years. They also made all of their sacraments in that very same church. Lisa and my Mom made their sacraments together since they were in the same class. It was pretty special for my parents, godparents and grandparents. Everyone came to the church to watch. It was packed as they Christened me and 6 other babies. It was a lot to take in, but the most memorable moment was having the water poured over my head at the baptismal font. It didn't bother me at all, although I did wonder why I was getting my bath with my clothes on and when my massage was coming.

Then the real fun began! Everyone went to an Italian restaurant called Gino's in Bayside. Mom put me in a pink party dress that I tolerated for as long as I could. We had a room and outdoor terrace to ourselves, ate wonderful food and just enjoyed each other's company. Everyone was there -too many people to list! It meant so much to me to that so many people traveled far to be apart of such a special day. That meant a lot to my Mom and Dad too. They also loved being the parents having a party for their baby - they said this was their first big thing for me!

When the party ended we went home and talked about what a great day we had and how we will remember it forever.

Four Generations of Crazy

Today was an amazing day! We got to NY late last night and today I got to meet almost everyone in my Mom and Dad's family. It was so great to finally meet all of the people I've been hearing about.

I don't like to play favorites but meeting my Great Grandma was pretty special. She is 93 years old and has waited a long time to meet me! She loved holding me and just about ignored my mom (HA!) when she saw me.

I think I am taking her place as (Great) Grandma's Favorite Girl!!!

30,000 Feet and Climbing

Here I am on my first plane ride. We are on Virgin America, a very hip airline.  The seats are a little tight and I am sharing with Mom and Dad.   But there are many great things about Virgin America.

Here's the short list:

1 - They have these funky lights that make it look like
2 - I can watch all my favorite TV shows while we fly (even though I do not watch TV at home,         wink wink)
3 - They have great games to play for when the TV gets boring
4 - Lots of great snacks
5 - They sell wine in these perfect little bottles, just enough to help me relax for the flight
6 - I can connect to the Internet and post to my blog while in flight

Mom and Dad were going on and on about when they were kids and how times have changed. They said they had to read books and do word finds to entertain themselves on board; they had to actually send film away to some secret location to have their pictures developed and then had to wait for them to arrive in the mail; they had to show their pictures to their friends and family in person; they didn't have blogs back then or blackberries or email and the Internet; they didn't have to pay for the food on the plane and that was a good thing even though it was always gross; and they had to sneak their own booze on the plane.

And they had to walk 5 mile uphill barefoot to get to school....

My how times have changed.

By the way, what is film?

Tastes Like Chicken

Big day today!

I was chillin' in my bouncy seat and I was batting around the toy elephant that hangs in front of me. I grabbed it and wouldn't let go. I held it for a long time, pulling on it, aiming for my mouth, but it wouldn't budge.

In the evening I was hanging on my play mat while Mom and Dad ate burritos. Mom handed me toy ring which I discovered fits nicely inside my mouth. I chewed on it while I listened to Mom shriek and ramble on and on about hand eye coordination, blah blah blah, while Dad pretended to listen while he enjoyed his Veggie Super in a Whole Wheat Tortilla.

P.S. - Poor guy, thinks the whole wheat tortilla makes it healthy!

Miracle Smiracle

This is the miracle blanket, specifically designed to keep babies from breaking out of their swaddle in the middle of the night and keep them sleeping peacefully. Think of it as a sort of baby straight jacket.

This is me, wrapped in the miracle blanket.

This is what I think of the miracle blanket.

Happy Easter

In preparation for Easter, me and Daddy dyed Easter eggs with my friend Kaiya. We did this on Saturday morning and I got to go on an Easter Egg Hunt this morning. Being that I can not crawl or walk, it wasn't an easy task!
I am still trying to figure out what this holiday is all about, but so far I like it. I heard we were supposed to go to church today, but mom hurt her back and we didn't make it. I think Grandpa will teach me the real meaning of Easter when I see him in New York next week. All I know so far is that there was chocolate, jelly beans and popcorn. So far so good!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

Yesterday was Mom and Dad's 4th Wedding Anniversary! They took me to Napa where they got engaged.
First we went to the Culinary Institute of America for lunch - it was great. I slept through the entire lunch so that Mom and Dad could enjoy themselves! That was my present to them.
This is the exact spot where Dad proposed to Mom at Domaine Chandon - pretty, huh?
And here I am having my celebratory glass of champagne! Mom explained that champagne is very important because without it she might not have said yes and I would not be here. Bottoms up!
